(NOTE: the ex-librarian in me made me inform you of this election issue)
This November
3rd election, New Mexico citizens will vote on General Obligation Bond Issue B,
which if passed, will provide publicly funded New Mexico libraries with a
total of $9,500,000.00.
This GO Bond
will provide $3,000,000 each for Higher Education libraries, Public
libraries and Public School libraries. It will provide $500,000 for NM
Tribal libraries.
The funds
are allocated to libraries by the population served. Allocation is based
on 4.5.8 NMAC Distribution of Funds. (NMAC stands for New Mexico
Administrative Code -similar to our NM State Statutes) The population
served is data collected from the 2018
Estimated Census information for Counties and 2010 U.S. Census for the
libraries' Legal Service Areas. (AH-HA - yet another reason to have fill out your 2020 Census)
Carrizozo Library population served is 996 people, so their fund allocation is $4,377.28
Capitan
Library serves 1,489 people, so their fund allocation is $7,301.11
Corona Library
serves 172 people, so their fund allocation is $4,202.19.
Ruidoso Library serves 8,029 people, so their fund allocation is $22,689.81
To clarify:
In the equation of the distribution all libraries get $3797.47. Then they get a portion of the fund based on population.
2020 Library GO Bonds will Cost Homeowners only $0.54 per $100,000 of Value per Year
